If
you think the commercials are bad, check out the California Dairy
Board's "Real Milk" website. It's enough to make any true animal lover
enraged, disgusted, saddened, or-- most likely-- a combination of all
three. It's a beautifully designed site full of content that
perpetuates the claim that California cows are happy.
As of this
writing, I must ask... What's more sickening? The desktop wallpaper
featuring soon-to-be-killed cows with charming dairy-board-given names
like Alicia, Anna, April, and Bob? Or perhaps it's the "Happy Cows"
audition clips featuring singing cows trying to impress (of course,
nothing they can "say" will save them from exploitation). Maybe it's the "Happy Cows!" game and coloring book that are
blatant attempts to get kids to be happy about eating their hamburgers
and drinking their milk (Why tell kids where their food really comes
from?). The list goes on and on. It's one thing to see the
commercials which are obviously a simple attempt at humor and trickery.
But to see all the "Happy Cow" propoganda and all the lies in one
place (and to note how it seems so targeted towards children)-- what nerve these people have. |
